Title: "soul walk"?
Post by: mrst53 on August 30, 2010, 12:32:59 PM
Someone told me today that some SDAs believe in a "soul walk". Something like the Catholic's purgatory. I have never heard anyone mention this on this site, so I questioned her and she said that the SDA church in my town believes this way. Thanks for your help.

Well, I am just as curious to hear the explanation for this one.  "Soul walk"?

I wonder too because I have never heard this term within the Sevednth-day Adventist Church during the past 70 years! Nor in any class where we studied the doctrines of this Church.

Mrst53

Are you sure they do not mean that they not only do the talking but do the walk of exactly what their living "soul" believes and teaches. That would be a true Adventist.

A belief in "true doctrine" or any doctrine as long as you believe it can be stated as "Sanctified" in a belief. Doing what your "Sanctified" by --is "Justification" if it is according to God's Word.

That walk will give "Salvation". So I would say that someone might have given it a "new era" term of "soul walk", but there is no other clarification or meaning of that, that I can think of. Doing what your soul believes is a good thing if one is sure of a truth in the will of God.

I think there may be some confusion of terminology here. The phrase I believe you refer to is "soul sleep." It is SDA doctrine that when a person dies their soul goes into a deep sleep from which it will be awakened at the resurrection.

I will ask, but she was adamant that this was like purgatory and the souls could be prayed  for and could be prayed out of there and into heaven. It sounds to me like a Mormon belief. they have something like that, where they can pray for someone and they can become Morman and become saved after death. Wierd, huh?

Well, I was born and raised SDA, and I can say that is definitely NOT part of our biblical doctrine(SDAs love to send folks to hell, a second chance only applies to themselves.  LOL!!!).  I remember thinking how creepy it was when I heard about that particular LDS doctrine.
