Title: A Positive Addition!
Post by: WillowRun on March 30, 2008, 05:41:07 PM
Wow thanks for adding a new dimension to Advent Talk!  I was brought into the SDA church via
IT IS WRITTEN way back when George Vandeman  still hosted the program.  To this day, twenty years later, IIW is still my favorite.

Does anyone else have a favorite?

This brings memories of George Vandeman having an It Is Written reaping campaign in the Washington DC area. I attended some of those meetings. It must have been in 1957 or 1958. Seems like the original idea with IIW was that the TV programs were to be transmitted by some TV station in a local area, and then as the series was coming to a close George Vandeman himself or another appointed evangelist would have a reaping campaign with meetings every day for 2 or 3 weeks. A hhuge crowd attended those meetings 50 years ago.

Wow!  I wasn't alive in 1957.  I also enjoy the productions by Amazing Facts.  I try save  AF Sabbath School podcasts for at work when I'm filing and such.  Makes the work go faster.  I also do that with Voice of Prophecy.

Happy Sabbath Afternoon to everyone!

I saw a George Vanderman broadcast of It is Written recently and was very pleased at how current the message was. Could have been made a few weeks ago and not 20 plus years ago.

I downloaded a program called DTV4PC and it has thousands of sites where one can watch free TV from all over the world. I found Hopetv and 3ABN and LLBN and listen to the message I like while surfing the internet. It is a real blessing to get those stations from the internet.

Is DTV4PC a free download without any costs associated with it?

It does cost $50 to purchase the program. There are additonal features. You can watch the latest network show from the previous week from all the networks and SciFi Channel and USA etc and watch the streaming episodes.

Do you know if this program works on a Mac?

No I do not think it works on a mac. It is called DTV4PC for a reason.

I grew up listening to The Voice of Prophecy. I loved listening to the King's Herald's Quartet that included Bob Edwards, first tenor, Bob Seamount, Second tenor, Wayne Hooper, Baritone and Jerry Dill, Base. They sang during most of my childhood. I always thought they sang so well together. I am sure all the other groups are great too.

I enjoyed Elder H.M.S. Richards sermons. I was also blessed listening to his son HMS Jr. who was a dynamic evangelistic speaker.  Later he joined his father on the radio vop programs.

Ozzie

You should be able to get it in australia. It is a web site.
http://www.dtv4pc.com/

It only gets TV stations world wide that is streamed to the internet. It should work anywhere where you get broadband internet service.

So,

Did anyone try DTV4PC?  I found  this place linked below.  I tried it...was a little slow. On the plus side, it was free.

Does anyone know if George Vandeman's books are still in print?  I gave a bunch of books from the 60's away and I am regretting that decision now.

Most of them are available used. Try

http://www.bookfinder.com/

Just write "George Vandeman" and it will find all of his books listed for sale - most of them used.

Our publishing houses no longer stock books, except for the Bible commentary and a few other items. Storage is expensive. I think everything they print is immediately shipped out to the ABCenters to be sold, and when a book has a few years on its back it is cleared to make room for new books at the ABC. It is very expensive keeping books in stock. Funds tied up preventing the possibility of printing new books, etc.

In the past it did not pay to print a small number of books. Now the books are stored on a hard disk with pictures, binding, and everything. The computer starts the machinery and out comes the number of books you want ready bound - perhaps even packed for shipping? Hardly anything can be compared with the printing presses at Battle Creek in the early days of Adventism. Neither is the same now as in the early days of color printing where the sheets had to pass the press for each color. Then quite a bit depended on the accuracy of the men running the machines. It was a real skill and good operators were rare.

Times have changed - in these last days.

I checked out the link and discovered that it isn't completely free, as you will find out for yourself in step #2 of the download process.

That is correct. As I pointed out there is a $49.95 price for the DTV4PC program. It is a one time purchase price. It is not free.
