Title: Christianity Today Quote on the SDA WO Issue
Post by: Daryl Fawcett on December 10, 2012, 09:32:35 AM
I read both this comment and the quote from Christianity Today on Facebook:
Quote
This is a short statement in ‘Christianity Today’, probably the most known evangelical monthly magazine in US, regarding the SDA discussion about the ordination of women. This report can be seen also as a reminder that what we consider an ‘internal discussion’ has a larger impact than expected, even outside of the church. As the apostle Paul said, “We have become a spectacle to the world and to angels and to men.” 1. Cor. 4: 9.

“Adventists: Ordaining women a mistake.
Leaders of the Seventh-day Adventist Church said recent decisions by two regional bodies to allow ordained female pastors were ‘serious mistakes’, and women who were ordained won’t be recognized – at least for now. The decisions by the Maryland based Columbia Union Conference and the California-based Pacific Union Conference came as the worldwide church body is in the midst of a broad study of the “theology of ordination.” The denomination will discuss the study at its 2015 general conference. Many Adventist female pastors merely hold ‘commissioned’ status, which does not allow them to be ordained; most male pastors hole a ‘ministerial’ credential, which does allow ordination.” Christianity Today, December 2012, p. 14.
