Title: Posting Pictures?
Post by: Johann on January 28, 2008, 03:17:49 AM
If anybody has any smilies that they would like to see here at Advent Talk, please let me know.  :)

Seems like I saw some smilies here before. Have they disappeared?

Will itg be possible to post pictures here in the future?

What do you mean by posting pictures here in the future?

On BSDA and MSDAOL people have been posting pictures. I suppose I have never learned how this is done. Is it possiible to do it here?

Well, you can see my picture here, therefore, you should be able to do likewise, however, I will use my Test username to verify that.

As you can see, using my Test username, it works. :)

Just go into your Profile and then click on Forum Profile Information and go from there.

Not trying to speak for Johann, but I wonder if he might have been referring to the ability to post a picture or a .pdf file in the text of a post...?  I see that that possibility is available when one clicks on "Additional Options" while in a post window.  Is that what you mean, Johann?

Although, I tried to include an attachment in this post and could not get it to upload.  Help!!

EDIT:  I see the picture is here once I posted it, but I did not see it in the preview screen.

I assumed that was what Johann meant too, but I've been known to be wrong... many times.

Chrissie, you are doing better than many of us.

Yes, I was wondering how to post a picture of Linda and me in the text. It would be unfair to Linda if I posted it in the sidebar!!!

If Snoopy can do it, then everybody should also be able to do it.

Johann...click on "reply" to reply to my post.

Once the "post reply" window is open you should see a button with "Additional Options" in blue next to a + sign in a blue box.

Click on that and you should see the option to attach a file to your reply.

I don't see the Additional Options box in this particular forum, therefore I had better see if it needs to be enabled.

I have found it now, but am told the picture uses too much bandwidth. I suppose I have to make it smaller?

When you click on Additional Options just below and to the left of the Text Box, underneath the word Attach, it says:

Allowed file types: doc, gif, jpg, mpg, pdf, png, txt, zip
Maximum attachment size allowed: 128 KB, per post: 4

If your file size is larger than 128 KB, then it will not allow you to upload it.

wow, just did the reply thingy, and this is what the additional options say...

Allowed file types: doc, gif, jpg, mpg, pdf, png, txt, zip
Maximum attachment size allowed: 300 KB, per post: 4

that's bigger than 128kb... did you increase it, Daryl?

Yes, I discovered it needed to be increased.
