Anyhoo, Cliff and Freddie Harris of DAP are doing a wonderful thankless job in helping thousands of people escape the bondage of drug addiction. Dr. Ben Carson is a phenomenal physician and a man whose life is an inspiration. What some seem to be condemning them for is precisely what I admire about them: they follow the example of Jesus by going into the highways and hedges, spending time with the 'publicans and Samaritans' of today, giving, healing, teaching and blessing without attacking and condemning.

And if the Crystal Cathedral opens their doors to these people and attempts to help their ministries, then God bless them for their Christian spirit and largesse.

Whew!! I have been here is a spell.  Sorry for the delayed response.  However, just look at the names of the folks you have listed..........prophets John the Baptist, Elijah, and Jesus, not Dr. Luke not even the rest of the disciples or apostles.  It is a heavy burden and a awesome responsiblity when God speaks through you to rebuke others.  It is also not the norm.  For the rest of us regular folks, our jobs are to be a witness and point others to Jesus Who sustains and lives through us.  Just as He meant for the COI to do being an example, a witness of the God of Heaven Who was leading them.

We also have to remember the woman brought to Jesus to be stoned, and His response to her accussers......."He that is without sin................IOW, The Bible supports.......If you live in a glass house.........etc.   Those who accused that woman had no authority to do so, even though she was wrong ALL day long.  They were not operating within the Will of God to "confront" her with her sins.  So we have to be very careful when we make it our life's work to call out other people's sins...............

Di,

Did John the Baptist get it wrong when he made the people and leaders and Herod aware of their sinful condition?

Did Elijah get it wrong when he made Ahab aware that it was Ahab, not Elijah, that troubled Israel?

Jesus was crucified because people couldn't stand the light which made them aware that their own works were evil.

I cannot see how you can find any example in Scripture of anyone who preached the gospel while not making their hearers aware of their sinful condition.

Felix trembled as Paul spoke of righteousness, temperance, and judgment to come.

It is the duty of every cultured man or woman to read sympathetically the scriptures of the world.  If we are to respect others' religions as we would have them respect our own, a friendly study of the world's religions is a sacred duty. - Mohandas K. Gandhi

We must remember what that story is all about. They had no authority to stone her for multiple reasons: a) They were guilty of setting her up. b) They only brought her, not him, which was contrary to the law. c) The Jews did not have authority to execute the death sentence on their own because they were under Rome's dominion.

Some people would apply this passage in such a way that a parent could never discipline their children. That is a misinterpretation. Just because a parent has made mistakes too doesn't mean they don't have a God-given responsibility to discipline their kids.
