--- Quote ---Women's Ministries Emphasis Day, 2012

by Carla Baker, Women's Ministries director

In 1898 the Adventist Church recognized the gifts of the women in the Church by appointing the first Women’s Ministries (WM) director, Mrs. S. M. I. Henry. She was strongly encouraged in her role by Ellen White and worked tirelessly to mobilize the women of the Church in service to God, Church, and community.
Now the Church has designated the second Sabbath in June as Women’s Ministries Emphasis Day, and it has a place each year on the official NAD calendar. The purpose of the day is to showcase the Women’s Ministries Department as well as the contributions of women to the local church. It is also an excellent time to educate the church about the purposes of Women’s Ministries.
We encourage churches to use this as an opportunity for women to plan and lead out in a full day of activities, including Sabbath school, the worship service, and perhaps an afternoon program. In planning the observance of WM Emphasis Day, the women’s ministries leader should consult with the pastor several months in advance. Resources, including a sermon with PowerPoint slides, a children’s story, and supporting items are available for downloading from the WM website, www.nadwm.org.
If the second Sabbath in June is not a convenient date for your church to observe Women's Ministries Emphasis Day, the women’s ministries leader is urged to work with the pastor to find another date.
