Title: prayer request to NOT attend...
Post by: charis on April 22, 2008, 05:43:20 PM

Please pray for me NOT to attend a Renaissance Faire this weekend.  It is within walking distance.  It did not bother me last year and I did not attend, but this year it seems to hold a particularly strong pull to me.

(A Ren Faire is a mock-up of the Renaissance period of time. People dress in the attire, and eat the foods eaten then.  Lots of people attend.  Can be a lot of fun.  But it is also a gathering of the covens)

I thought that is what it was Charis. I will be  :praying: that you don't attend. Maybe you can find something else to do? Maybe out of the house and away from the 'meeting'? Or even in your house glued to the computer and in this forum?   :D  In any event, I hope you are able to not attend this faire this weekend. Hmmmmm, maybe..... hmmmmm, maybe?????  Just putting some thoughts in my head Charis... I will be in contact.

Charis, we all have to make our own decisions and take responsibility for our own actions, but I also understand the 'pull' of evil. I shall be praying for you and you should be praying continually also. Satan will do all that he can to entice you there, but God is stronger by far, than the evil being who torments and ties to trap people. May God be with you.  :praying:

Yes, I understand everyone is free to make his/her own decisions.  Maybe I should not have asked for prayer... perhaps selfish of me.  Nevermind..

thanks for your answers Lil Star and Chrissie.

Charis I do not think it is selfish to ask your friends to pray for you.  If I remember the words of EGW correctly - the sense of them anyway - there is no prayer God delights more to answer than the prayer of deliverance from temptation.

I will pray too, that you may be strong this weekend.

I don't believe that it is ever selfish to ask friends to pray for us. We need to remind ourselves too, that we can't do anything in our own strength, so asking for God's help and asking others to pray for that strength you need at the weekend, is very important.  Take care and God bless.

To me it is not selfish to request prayer for resisting tempation. Satan is ever ready to entice us ever so gently and slowly to walk in his direction. I will be  :praying: for you also.

I will be  :praying: for another close friend who plans on attending Sabbath School then go to the Ren Fair.  :(

Charis, it is so very important that we acknowledge our need and ask friends to pray for us; especially in times of our greatest need, and what need could be greater, than staying away from such a place?

Be encouraged. Believe that your prayers and those of your friends are being answered and plan accordingly. God bless.  :praying:

Charis,

I agree with Bonnie here Charis. I don't think that you give yourself enough credit for what you can do.  :dogwag:
