Growing up Adventist
« on: July 20, 2012, 09:13:51 PM »

I recently visited with a 70 year-old woman who grew up in an Adventist family.  At that time her family lived in central Californina and the annual Campmeeting was at Soquel.  The famly custom was to attend the 10-day Campmeeting each year.

The last year she attended she was 17 or 18.  At the time family dynamics had changed.  An older brother was gone.  The mother was ill.  Father dropped this young woman off at the campmeeting and left her with the family tent.  He would return on weekends.

Well, she was an enterprising teen.  During the week she rented the tent out to teen couples (by the hour) who wanted some private time together.  She set up a schedule and made enough money to go to the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk and have some fun herself.

As I said:  Growing up Adventist.
