let this mind be in you....

"The proud heart strives to earn His salvation." D.A.300.

However, "When we seek to gain Heaven through the merits of Christ, the soul makes progress, from strength to strength and from victory to victory." E.G. White, Faith and Works, p.94.

"Through the merits of Christ we may find the approval of God." E.G. White, Our Father Cares, p.122.

"Looking unto Jesus and trusting in His merits we appropriate the blessings of light and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit." Testimonies, Vol.5, p.744.

On account of the all-sufficient merits of His great sacrifice Jesus speaks to us wonderful words of life, for

"In every command and in every promise of the word of God is the power, the very life of God by which the command may be fulfilled and the promise realized. He who receives the word in faith is receiving the very life and character of God. The life thus imparted is in like manner sustained, by every word that proceeds out of the mouth of God." E.G. White, Education, p.126; Christ's Object Lessons, p.38.

In the beginning God said, "Let there be light! And there was light!" Gen.1:3. For "He spoke and it was! He commanded and it stood fast!" Ps.33:9.

This is the word which by the Gospel is now preached unto us, the word of faith.

"Today, if you will hear His voice, do not harden your heart," for, He says,

"Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus." Phil.2:5.

This is the commandment of the everlasting God! All who are hungering and thirsting for salvation and are willing to be as submissive to the voice of God as is the inanimate creation, may immediately receive the mind of Christ, for "He speaks and it is done! He commands and it stands fast!" Ps.33:9.

All who believe the commandment of His mouth may say, by faith, "We have the mind of Christ." 1 Cor.2:16.

This is the word which by the Gospel is preached unto us!

Without the mind of Christ, we cannot empty ourselves of self and we cannot form a Christian character. It is all offered to us in His word: "Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus." As we receive the word in faith, as the voice of God speaking to the soul in promise, we have the mind of Christ and we are delivered from selfishness and sin.

"Continue in the faith."

We may drink deep the Spirit of the sacred oracles of God!
