My Favorite Hymn
« on: May 19, 2008, 08:35:11 PM »

These are the lyrics to my favorite hymn...does anyone else have a favorite?

There is sunshine in my soul today,
  More glorious and bright
Than glows in any earthly sky,
  For Jesus is my light.

    O there's sunshine, blessed sunshine,
    While the peaceful, happy moments roll;
When Jesus shows His smiling face
There is sunshine in my soul.

There is music in my soul today,
  A carol to my King;
And Jesus, listening, can hear
  The song I cannot sing.

There is springtime in my soul today,
For when the Lord is near
The dove of peace sings in my heart,
  The flowers of grace appear.

There is gladness in my soul today,
And hope, and praise, and love,
For blessings which He gives me now,
  For joys laid up above.

I am totally without musical talent hence I love the words in WillowRun's hymn

And Jesus listening can hear the songs I cannot sing. :D

My favourite depends a little on my mood but I deeply appreciate He looked beyond my fault and saw my need   sung to the Londonerry Air.

Amazing Grace, shall always be my song of praise.
For it was grace that brought me liberty,
I do not know, just why He came to love me so.
He looked beyond my fault and saw my need.

I shall forever lift mine eyes to Calvary,
To view the cross, where Jesus died for me
How marvelous, His grace that caught my falling soul
He Looked beyond my fault and saw my need.

This Hymn by Thomas Pollock in 1889 really speaks to the way I feel about my devoutness
to GOD.

We Have not Known Thee as We Ought

We have not known Thee as we ought,
Nor learned Thy wisdom, grace and power;
The things of earth have filled our thought,
And trifles of the passing hour.
Lord, give us light Thy truth to see,
And make us wise in knowing Thee.

We have not feared Thee as we ought,
Nor bowed beneath Thine awful eye,
Nor guarded deed and word and thought,
Remembering that God was nigh.
Lord, give us faith to know Thee near,
And grant the grace of holy fear.

We have not loved Thee as we ought,
Nor cared that we are loved by Thee;
Thy presence we have coldly sought,
And feebly longed Thy face to see.
Lord, give a pure and loving heart
To feel and know the love Thou art.

We have not served Thee as we ought,
Alas, the duties left undone,
The work with little fervor wrought,
The battles lost or scarcely won!
Lord, give the zeal, and give the might,
For Thee to toil, for Thee to fight.

When shall we know Thee as we ought,
And fear and love and serve aright?
When shall we, out of trial brought,
Be perfect in the land of light?
Lord, may we day by day prepare
To see Thy face and serve Thee there.

I have several that I like. Sometimes it depends on what is going on in my life.

Trust and Obey
Further along we'll understand all about it
My Jesus I love Thee

Here's a song I really like.

He Didn't Throw The Clay Away

Empty and broken
I came back to Him
A vessel unworthy
So scarred with sin
But He did not despair
He started over again
And I bless the day
He didn't throw the
clay away.

Chorus:
Over and over
He molds me and makes me
Into His likeness
He fashions the clay
A vessel of honor
I am today
All because Jesus
didn't throw the clay away.

He is the potter
I am the clay
Molded in His image
He wants me to stay
But when I stumble
And I fall
And my vessel breaks
He just picks up the pieces
He doesn't throw the
clay away.

again and again I sing Oh the deep deep love of Jesus and most always choke up with tears.

1. O the deep, deep love of Jesus,
Vast, unmeasured, boundless, free!
Rolling as a mighty ocean
In its fullness over me!
Underneath me, all around me,
Is the current of Thy love
Leading onward, leading homeward
To Thy glorious rest above!

2. O the deep, deep love of Jesus,
Spread His praise from shore to shore!
How He loveth, ever loveth,
Changeth never, nevermore!
How He watches o’er His loved ones,
Died to call them all His own;
How for them He intercedeth,
Watcheth o’er them from the throne!

3. O the deep, deep love of Jesus,
Love of every love the best!
’Tis an ocean vast of blessing,
’Tis a haven sweet of rest!
O the deep, deep love of Jesus,
’Tis a heaven of heavens to me;
And it lifts me up to glory,
For it lifts me up to Thee!
